Garbage Day #11: You Can’t Always Watch What You Want…

winnie_comiccolorsm…but if you try sometimes, you just might find – you get the new “V”…

Actually, I don’t know much about the new version of “V”, and I want to commit teenage suicide (meaning I’d have to find a way to go back 9 years) after hearing they’re pitching a “Heathers” t.v. adaptation (but if they do, I’m Red).  But there are a few gems I’m excited about seeing on the fall schedule (”Community”), some I want to have faith in (”Glee”), and one new guilty pleasure that I’m ashamed to admit here (not listing this one on your life).  Plus there was the challenge to review “Fringe” (which I still haven’t seen even though I’ve wanted to give it a chance for awhile though, and I even tried to watch on Fox.com, but apparently my computer has The Herpes right now), and I so wanted to do that in time for the new season… (I have 2 weeks, though – I wonder if its at my local video store?).

I’m just excited in general, in a kind of “the future’s so bright, I gotta wear 3-D glasses” about what’s coming up.  This isn’t the best year/season of television or movies or books ever made, but it’s nice to have some returning favorites (”House”) and some new prospects (”Modern Family”).  I’ve been living on “Robot Chicken” reruns and episodes of the Telenovela “Valeria” for long enough.  I say this to the networks – I’m glad as hell and I’m not gonna mock it anymore!*

*Except you know I will… regularly.

Thanks for reading,

Winnie

I got through the summer on new episodes of “Royal Pains”, “Eureka”, “Burn Notice”, “True Blood”, “Entourage”, “Being Human”, and “Warehouse 13″.

The wife and I tried “Glee” tonight. There was a scene where I had to pause for 5 minutes to let her recover from the laughing fit it induced in her. Despite my hatred of Rupert Murdoch and his f’ed up political agenda, we’ll be watching a Fox show for the first time in years in this house.

Have zero interest in “Community” but that’s only because I’ve found the male lead seriously lacking in skillz in everything else I’ve seen him in, so I have no confidence in the show.

“V” looks interesting. All the menace of the original, but with better special effects.

But September 21 is when it all drops… Geek night. 2-hour season premiere of “Heroes” and season premiere of “Big Bang Theory”. Hoo-boy. Daddy’s goin’ to bed late that night.

You know, I fell out of “Heroes” (not purposely, just missed so many episodes and never caught back up – last I saw, Peter Petrelli was in Cork, Ireland), and I haven’t tried “Big Bang Theory” – but since they have the Bulmash seal of approval, my DVR might just have to make some new friends.

I was also anticipating “Glee”, but I didn’t like the pilot as much as I wanted to (and apparently as much as a lot of people). I loved the 2nd episode, though (Jane Lynch’s comments stole the show at times). And there should be a website listing the many reasons people are unhappy with the Fox network off and on.

I read your “Royal Pains” review, and also watched that and “Entourage”, but I never gave “Warehouse 13″ a chance – thank your acquaintance, SydneyFy. Would you recommend it?

Warehouse 13… Not the greatest show, but entertaining, and the only non-cooking show worth watching on Tuesdays, at least during the summer. It grows on you.

Big Bang is definitely worth the effort, but please, Dear God, tell me you were kidding when you said someone was coming out with a Heathers TV show. Please?!? That’s just not right!

As per ‘V’, I’ll give it a chance because the original mini was quite good, but I am out of there the first time someone drops a ‘Pretenama’!

Sorry I’m about 2 years late getting back here…

Dave, on the “Heather’s” movie: I wish I was kidding… Maybe the myriad WTF?!s heard ’round the world when it was first brought up will allow it to be shelved like that Revenge of the Nerds movie that went from “in production” to “scrapped”…

And thanks, guys, on “Big Bang Theory” – everywhere I turn, I hear great things about that show, and it sounds like the premise should appeal to me (yes, I’m a bit late)…

Wait – *thinks for a moment* Dave… News Guy… Dave! Whoo-hoo! Thanks for stopping by!
