Devon in a Different Style #2

Well, I think I’ve found a couple of cool sketch themes to put on this blog. Since starting my sketchbook project I’ve enjoyed getting back into the caricature thing, but drawing the STC gang in different ways is definitely fun. I hope you guys are enjoying them as much as I am, making them.

The first/top one reminds me of Dave Chappelle making a joke in one of his crazier character voices. The second/bottom one – I’d hit that!

My oldest loves this drawing, by the way!

  2. Carlisle says:

Thanks. I really liked the bottom one. The bottom one is a self portrait.
…I’m playin’ by the way, before I get in trouble.

Aww, man – I was hoping you were serious, so I could be the subject of a new Lifetime movie – My Sister’s Husband’s Caricature’s Keeper.

      • Carlisle says:

Or “My Sister Murdered Me Because of Art and All I’ve Got to Show for it is A Movie with an Unnecessarily Long Title, a Disembodied Voice, and Title That Apparently Has the Word Momma in it Because Otherwise, Lifetime Was Gonna Void My Contract. But Damn it Was Worth it Cuz That Dude Was Fine!!! 2: Judgement Day”

Or you guys could do the BET version of “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. :-)

    • Carlisle says:

Whoosh. …huh? Great. Now I’ve gotta Google that.

    • Carlisle says:

“The tale of a youth whose features, year after year, retain the same appearance of innocent beauty while the shame of his abhorrent vices becomes mirrored on…” Dude, that’s waaay to intelligent for me.

Eh, a guy stays young while his picture gets older instead.

        • Winnie says:

Nice reference, Greg! That is a fantastic book/movie – plus the movie had Angela Lansbury in it! I didn’t know about it until 2001, when AFI released their list/premiered their “100 Years, 100 Thrills” hosted by Harrison Ford, and when I saw the clip, the premise sounded so great that I decided to read/watch it for myself.

P.S. – Carlisle, what kind of a nerd are you – the character Dorian Gray was in “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”!

  4. TL says:

Wow, Winnie is awesome! Little surprised she reads League of Ext. Gents! What other comic surprises does she have up her sleeve?

    • Winnie says:

Well, far be it from me to want my newly awarded Miss Awesome title & sash stripped away for the bare truth coming out like I’m Miss USA 1984, but TL… I used the comic book Cliff’s Notes and saw the 2003 movie. While I did at least know it was (loosely) based on a comic at the time, I haven’t read it myself.

*Winnie’s booed off STC and relegated to singing the theme to “Pocahontas”, doing duets with Brian McKnight, and acting in “EraserA”*
