“Cue Junkyard Harmonica”, STC Reviewed.

As I mentioned during my new storyline debut (Wednesday’s strip), I had the pleasure of being reviewed by Jinx Tiger of Tally Road.  The review was very positive toward the strip, yet it seemed honest as well.  I would never confuse myself as the second coming of Bill Watterson, but it was a really fun read for me.

I really encourage anyone here that is a fan to give it a look, as his impressions of the material gave me some insights from a different perspective that I truly believe you’d get a kick out of. Reading the review also has helped reinvigorate my creativity toward Devon and the gang.  Don’t get  me wrong, STC is a mad passion of mine, but I’ve also have taken on extra responsibilities that have given me less time to create, and therefore, has zapped a little of the spark that I’ve had toward the strip.  To put it another way, cartoonists are like children and puppies, we live off attention and we’re cute.  I’m looking at you Dave and Kris (not that they’ll ever read that). But to be serious for a sec, we as cartooning performers typically operate our creations (at the beginning) from a loss. Our pay is feedback such as this review, and of course comments and emails.

I appreciate anyone who thinks of Devon and King every week, enough to type in that URL or, better yet, hit that bookmark.  That realization will never be lost on me. Somewhere, this post turned from get a load of this review, to a love letter to you guys.  Anyway, if you love me as much as I love you, then give it a read and let me know what you think below.  Peace.

Putting the Shia LaDebate to Rest.

For those not in the know, my latest comic had a hot debate on the merits of Shia, and how LaBuff that name is. We had two individuals debating opposite sides of the discussion, leaving us at a stand still. Is Shia so unmanly of a name, that he should be ridiculed and reduced to “B” level actor? This is a hard one to decide. With our President ducking shoes (F#&%ing Hilarious by the way), and our President Elect dealing with his greedy _ssed Governor’s problems, the only people left to tackle this polarizing issue are…

Us the STC community. First of all, our boy’s got many strikes against him. The main issue? His name is Shia. It’s not Asley, or Shannon, yet still leaves a horrible taste in a man’s mouth (that’s not what I meant…grow up people). I agree that his name shoulda been something manlier like Tyreeq, Darnel, or even Biff.

His other strike? The last Indy movie. I don’t think it was a steaming pile, but Lucas has obviously killed the golden goose (and peed on it). Others want to add his role in Transformers as another negative, but I’ve ruled and will not allow it. At the risk of one of you throwing a shoe at me, I liked the movie. Yeah, I said it. I understand where the people who hated that movie are coming from, but it’s not Shia’s fault. The fact that he was in 87% of the movie, not his fault either. I blame Michael Bay (and George Lucas somehow).

The positives? That leaves me to the clip featured below. Shia’s greatest performance to date. So you want to use my comment section to discuss underaged male movie stars with questionable names? This is what you get ;)

If you got 4 minutes and you haven’t seen this, then you don’t like to laugh (which explains why you read my comic).
